With online entry now open in the under and over 18 year-old divisions, Hit Like A Girl has announced the addition of Gina Schock (The Go-Go’s), Elaine Bradley (Neon Trees), Jess Bowen (The Summer Set), Kim Thompson (Beyoncé) and Shauney Recke (Pussy Cat Dolls, Will.I.Am) to the stellar judging panel that also includes Meytal Cohen (independent), Dawn Richardson (Four Non-Blondes, Tracy Chapman) and Hannah Ford (Prince, Bellevue Suite).

Not only has Yamaha DTX Electronic Drums joined the group of leading companies supporting Hit Like A Girl with over $10,000 in prizes, the company will be contributing four electronic drumkits so that the three top winners in both age divisions will receive complete drumsets. Along with the Yamaha DTX 450 and 400 kits, prizes include two PDP Concept Series kits as well as an assortment of TRX Cymbals, Vater sticks, Evan heads, SKB cases and media packs from Alfred Music.

The Hit Like A Girl contest is produced by DRUM! Magazine in conjunction with TRX Cymbal Co. and Tom Tom: The Magazine For Female Drummers, Hit Like A Girl 2013 sponsors include Drum Workshop, Yamaha DTX, Vater, Evans, SKB and Alfred Music. Additional media sponsors are Drum Channel and the Enter Music Network. The contest celebrates women’s drumming officially began on February 1, 2013 with entries ending March 15, fan voting ending April 1 and winners announced by April 20.
