The tension is mounting as votes pile up for contestants in Hit Like A Girl 2012: The Contest For Female Drummers. As the competition heads into its final stretch, its sponsors have announced that dozens of drumming videos by girls and women as young as eight to over fifty, on acoustic and electronic drumsets, and from all around the world have been posted to the hitlikeagirl2012.com website. Along with entries from the United States, videos have been posted by drummers from Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, England, France, Germany, Greece, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, the Netherlands, Peru, the Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Spain and Switzerland.
Hit Like A Girl 2012 has also announced that the world-famous School Of Rock (www.schoolofrock.com) music school has joined major event sponsors Crush, Drum!, Tom-Tom Magazine, TRX, Alfred Publishing, Drum Channel, Evans, SKB and Vater—contributing drum gear and prizes valued at more than $10,000. Videos can be submitted at hitlikeagirl2012.com through April 1, 2012 and voting continues online through April 15. After that, the most popular videos along with several “wild card” entries chosen by the sponsors will be posted at hitlikeagirl2012.com and drumchannel.com and adjudicated by a panel of top women drummers, including Sheila E, Kim Thompson, Jess Bowen, Susie Ibarra, Dawn Richardson and Hannah Ford.
